Early morning the sun dapples light on the ferns
The smell of warm earth
woody yet sharp
rolls up from the ground to fill my lungs
A deer snorts as I disturb her rest
birds chut at my intrusion
Slowly, slowly, we settle into a calm understanding of peaceful observance
I sit and become the scene while the baby birds wait for their meal
Momma bird sees I am no threat continues her mission
A flurry of activity surrounds me as I sit
I become insignificant
I become everything
