We've all heard the rhyme "April showers bring May flowers", but just what blooms in May? Follow along as we post about a new flower every day in May, some familiar, some may be new, all beautiful in their unique sort of way! Keeping with the theme of pretty but invasive, today's flower is the Star of Bethlehem.
Native to Europe and parts of Middle East, it was brought to the states as an ornamental. The plant and bulb are poisonous to both livestock and humans. It is recommended to 1st not plant this flower, and 2nd if found dig up and destroy (usda).
