Northeast Ohio

Northeast Ohio being my home turf there are lots of places to highlight!
Bear with me as I put all this information together....

Wayne County Parks

Wooster Memorial Park (Spangler) - Wooster, Ohio

Picture
Over nine miles of hiking trails varying from moderate to difficult, Wooster Memorial Park has something to offer every hiker.

For more information visit the Friends of Wooster Memorial Park Website.

Barnes Preserve - Wooster, Ohio

Picture
A new park to the area but a good one!
Paved trails allow those with disabilities to enjoy the great outdoors. Meandering through the woods, looking out across a small pond, and through a meadow there is tons to see.

Brown's Lake Bog - Shreve, Ohio

Picture
One of the few remaining kettle hole bogs in Ohio.
Follow the boardwalk from forest to ferns to a floating sphagnum mat showcasing 15 different rare or endangered plants. You can also find the unique native carnivorous round-leaf sundew and purple pitcher plants here!
More information can be found at my blog HERE

OARDC - Secrest Arboretum - Wooster, Ohio

Picture
OARDC standing for Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center may seem like an odd addition, but I assure you, there are walking paths throughout various gardens and forested areas and you can find a wide range of birds enjoying the berries in the winter!
More information can be found HERE

Johnson Woods State Nature Preserve - Marshallville, Ohio

Picture
Old growth forest with boardwalks take you through swampy lands where beautiful spring wildflowers grow daintily under massive ~400year old oak trees.
A truly beautiful sight to behold.
