We've all heard the rhyme "April showers bring May flowers", but just what blooms in May? Follow along as we post about a new flower every day in May, some familiar, some may be new, all beautiful in their unique sort of way! This delicate wildflower blooms just as the trees begin to leaf out, and with its tiny lantern-like flowers, it's easy to miss.
Early meadow-rue is a graceful, 8-28 in. perennial with long-stalked leaves divided into many delicate, lobed segments. Petal-less flowers have yellow stamens that hang like small tassels. The female tassel-like blossoms are purple and appear on separate plants. Drooping, greenish-white flowers are in long-stalked terminal and axillary clusters on a smooth, leafy stem.
